Hi guys, remember me? That girl that went to Disney last year and didn’t hear from for awhile? First of all, I am so sorry for not keeping up with this blog. To be honest, I got so busy down at Disney doing a billion things that I’ll talk about in this post that I sort of lost touch with blogging. So here’s a quick recap of what happened last year:
I made some awesome friends and worked at The Seas with Nemo & Friends.
I met my favorite characters.
I ran the Tower of Terror 10 miler and absolutely LOVED it. 🙂
P.S. I did not know that man prior to the race but it was pretty hilarious bumping into him!
I ran the Wine & Dine Half-Marathon in the speedy time of 1:58 <<–including picture stops AND a port-a-potty break. 😉
I ran the Space Coast Marathon in Cocoa, FL in a respectable time of 4:10. Not my fastest but not bad for not training very hard!
Most importantly, I met the love of my life while randomly walking around the World Showcase in Epcot.
We went snorkeling for his birthday. 🙂
I worked the craziest shift of my life on New Years Eve.
I graduated from the Disney College Program.
Jeremy and I became a long distance couple. He’s in New Orleans and I’m in Michigan but we’re doing pretty well.
It’s not easy and I totally ugly cry every time we have to leave each other but it’s just for a short time. 🙂
So that’s what happened this past year! I have done a lot of growing up while doing the College Program and I would highly recommend it to anyone. It really did change my life. I met the most incredible people (totally tearing up while typing this btw) and I had the best time. I miss all of my Seas and Mission: SPACE family! ❤ I can’t wait to see you guys again! I’m hoping that now that I’m back in school, I’ll post a little more especially about my training! I am officially training for my first sprint triathlon. I’m super excited and NERVOUS but I’m sure I’ll finish and do well. 🙂 I have a few other trips and races planned for this year which I’ll go into further detail about another day. Hope you guys have a great weekend! Mine will be filled with homework and training! 😉
Sometimes I go through a phase of just not having anything noteworthy to say. Or I do, but I can’t figure out how to word it. A lot of people call it writer’s block. Well for about a month and a half, I’ve had some major writer’s block. I’d write up a post, save it and then normally delete it just because it didn’t do my days any justice. So here’s what’s been happening. I’ve been working 5 days a week at The Seas with Nemo and friends in Epcot. ^_^ future world east, yeaaaah! 🙂 In my time there so far, I’ve learned a few things:
- People can be rude.
- Directions are rarely, if ever, listened to.
- Tour groups are any cast members worst nightmare.
- Scooters are a pain to push around and running over your own feet is inevitable.
- People can also be very nice.
- Girls of all ages love being called princess.
- Going out of your way to make a guest happy can make you really happy too.
I genuinely enjoy going to work. I have hilarious coworkers and coordinators that make the time fly by. The hours aren’t too bad and definitely give me time to do a lot of other things. On my days off, I normally end up meeting with people to go to the parks. It is way too much fun to be able to go to a Disney park whenever you want. My parents came and visited for a week and I gave them the full Disney parks experience complete with waking up at the crack of dawn to go wait in line and the best dining places on property. Speaking of dining, let’s talk about foood. Oh man the food here is fabulous. I am seriously spoiled with a wide array of places to choose from on and off property. Disney prices are high but if you share with someone it isn’t too bad. Sometimes I treat myself and go all out with a good beer and a dessert but that’s a rare affair. I’ve tried so many new things since being here. For example, last night, my coworker and I went to Sanaa which is an African/Indian style restaurant at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I tried bison for the first time and it was delicious! I also had fresh and delicious naan bread. The prices were not too bad for such good food. Other than eating out, I eat very plain foods at home. It’s really too hot to cook anything extravagant so I normally stick with raw veggies, oatmeal, fruit, sandwiches and the occasional mac&cheese. 😛
In terms of running, I’ve recently committed to the challenge of running at least one mile every day for as long as possible. Hopefully for at least a year. 🙂 Today was day 10 and my legs felt pretty awesome. I’ve improved my pace a lot since being here and my knee feels infinitely better. It also helps that I bought new brooks glycerins that I love! 🙂 I have a few races coming up in the fall that I want to be really prepared for. 🙂
So that’s been my life in a nutshell. Eating, sleeping (very little), running, working and living it up! 🙂
The big move to Florida is happening in exactly one week! Eep! I feel like there is so much to do but I have no idea where to start. Yesterday, I realized that I definitely needed some new clothes. I haven’t really bought “summery” clothes since high school. I have a few dresses that are new but a lot of my summer clothes scream high school tween. Definitely needed an update to my wardrobe. My mom took me to the mall to look around but we quickly realized that we butted heads a lot about fashion and what is appropriate. It was somewhat of a fiasco. I’d pick out something and she’d have a billion oppositions to it. She’d pick something and I’d find it too boring. We settled on these two dresses:
I loved these two dresses. They were light and perfect for a hot free day in the parks. 🙂 There were some other things I wanted to try on but I wasn’t going to risk more arguments. Sometimes you just need to shop for yourself with a trusted friend. 😉 I drove over to Troy yesterday to spend the night with my BFF Kirsten who is leaving for her internship in Utah next week. We decided to hit the mall early this morning to see if we could find some nice summery clothes. She’ll be joining me at Disney in August. 🙂 Phew! It was much less stressful shopping with her.
More finds. 🙂 Love the high-rise shorts trend! Now I just have to pack everything..;) one step at a time!
Also, congratulations to everyone who ran the Grand Rapids River Run and the Color Run today! 😀 I ran both last year (they weren’t on the same day) and they were fantastic! Grand Rapids definitely had the best aid stations out of any race I’ve ever done.
*sigh* memories.. 🙂 this was from the 2012 25k. 🙂 i have a few ideas for my next marathon but i’m not letting out any details until i register. patience young grasshoppers. 😉
on that note, off to research some marathons.. have a great day! 😀
